Employing a law graduate can be a beneficial recruitment strategy for your firm.  Using the LIV Graduate Employment Registry allows you to attract the right law graduates for your firm. The registry listing, including your firm's profile, will be active for 6 months.

The Graduate Employment Registry consolidates all available graduate positions in the one directory, separate to other job advertisements, allowing candidates to easily search for available positions and ensuring your firm's position is promoted effectively. Using the registry enables candidates to apply directly to you.

What type of roles can I advertise?


To be eligible for admission to practice, law graduates must complete either Supervised Workplace Training (SWT) or Practical Legal Training (PLT).

SWT is essentially articles by a different name, and the employer is obligated to ensure their law graduate receives training in 10 core areas over a twelve month period.

As an alternative to SWT, firms that cannot accommodate the SWT requirements - specialist law firms or small – medium sized firms - should consider PLT. A PLT course can be completed online while the law graduate remains employed with the firm as a full-time or part-time employee.

Firms wanting to adopt this option are encourage to support the graduate by covering the cost of their PLT course. PLT graduates receiving appropriate training in each of the core subject areas and are usually eligible for admission within half the time of the SWT program.

How can a graduate lawyer add value to my practice?

Graduate lawyers have the appropriate technical training of the Bachelor of Laws, while the SWT or PLT training compliments their studies by providing practical experience.
